Anonymous Donor Provides $100,000 Challenge Grant to Child Care: Donation Fuels National Non-Profit's Work with Families

May 29, 2007

ARLINGTON, VA - An anonymous donor from the metro-DC area recently granted the National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies (NACCRRA) a challenge: The donor will match each dollar, up to $100,000, donated to NACCRRA. This donation will enable NACCRRA to expand its programs to ensure that families in every local community have access to high-quality, affordable child care.

In March, NACCRRA celebrated its 20th anniversary. The donor was inspired by NACCRRA's longevity, its aggressive approach to and early results from its 2006-2011 strategic plan, its leadership, and its commitment to make advances for our nation's children.

"NACCRRA is poised to promote public awareness of the importance of high-quality child care, and to expand support for a national model for better child care," said the donor. "I look forward to continuing to work with NACCRRA to transform child care and early education in America."

Linda K. Smith, NACCRRA's Executive Director, said, "This donor's dedication to our nation's children is admirable, and NACCRRA is grateful for this support. NACCRRA promises to use this donation - and the funds that it leverages - efficiently and effectively to achieve our vision of a nation that supports the development and learning of all children."

The donation marks NACCRRA's first challenge grant. The funds will be directed toward its parent engagement and public policy activities.
