Help Families and Children Cope with Traumatic Events

December 14, 2012
Report

Child Care Aware® of America is deeply saddened by the tragic events that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

In the wake of any kind of emergency or disaster - large or small - children may feel anxious about their own safety and security.

Child Care Aware® of America is proud to work with the American Academy of Pediatrics, Save the Children and Partnership for Disaster Preparedness to protect children before, during and after an emergency -- including traumatic events or natural disasters.

To help parents and caregivers better cope with traumatic events, respond to questions young children may have, and be a partner in recognizing early warning signs that could lead to violence and death, we have compiled a list of free, downloadable resources.
