Michael Olenick, Ph.D., Child Care Aware® of America board president, was recently honored with a 2013 Heart of Gold award presented by the Child Development Institute.
The award is given annually to individuals and organizations selected by Child Development Institute's board of directors in recognition of outstanding advocacy for the needs of young children and lifelong work to support and strengthen families.
Olenick is president and CEO of the Child Care Resource Center in Chatsworth, Calif., which has provided resources and support for early learners, families and child care professionals for over 30 years. “The Child Development Institute is one of the most impressive agencies that I have had occasion to work with in my 30 year career," Olenick, said. "I am so impressed with the vision and knowledge of their Executive Director Joan Maltese. It is very humbling for me to be honored by an organization that I respect and admire so much. Their Family Resource Center where we participate as a partner providing Head Start is a community based model that provides support and encouragement to thousands of families.”
Olenick also was awarded the 2013 California Youth Connection Legend award in recognition of his service and commitment to improving the lives of foster children throughout the country.
